Congratulations to Taiwan for a mature election, and also to Bhutan for stepping on the road of democracy.

“總是為擔心錯誤而猶豫,永遠無法實現自己的想法。”  —楊致遠 Jerry Yang

Without accomplishing any target, I went to Causeway Bay (cwb) to meet man for dinner in an old style Western restaurant. The German style pork knuckle (德國鹹豬手) that I ordered was quite different from the one I tried at a German restaurant King Ludwig Beerhall in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST). I am not particularly like pork knuckle but I think the one offered in King Ludwig Beerhall was more tasty.

After dinner, we shopped for a while. A beggar man who make a living as a performer with coarse skill in playing harmonica caught my eyes cos of scars on his face, and I guess these were caused by serious burning. He was sitting near the CWB MTR station and Swarovsik, opposite to the Causeway Bay Plaza (銅鑼灣地帶). It was (and is) an uncomfortable scene to me. I was not dare to gaze upon him because not only did I feel painful for him but also want to prevent him to catch my sympathic sight. On the way back, didn’t know how to response to his unfortunate and offer help, I gave him some money and I hope this little thing can help him a bit.

Although giving money can directly help the needed (if they are not controlled by gangster), my act to give money was maladroit and unskillful for the same reason that I was not dare to gaze upon the man. In a popular district for shopping and gourmet food as cwb, I wonder how many people were touched by the scene. I don’t know if there is any support for him to maintain his life nor he has any target in life. What all I can say is, he is a brave man. Although it is said that we have to cherish our lives, something that are given by the God, life isn’t all fun. It might be politically incorrect, I would not against individuals to end it all or to choose mercy killing due to torture from sickness. Perhaps I am still yet to gain an insight to life, I can’t find any meaning for life if there is no dream/ target. It’s sad to talk about this and I really am afraid unfortunate in life. Here I wish all of us most importantly, a good health, and I hope we can practice 日行一善 (do one good deed a day).

P.S. there’s also an old man who is just standing in the middle of the road, between the ‘performer’ the cwb plaza, sells 麵粉公仔 (Chinese traditional handicrafts made with flour for children). I remember this old man as I always see him standing there when I walk nearby, I appreciate his work and also his attitude. The handicraft was a bit over priced considering that it’s just made by flour, well, but its handmade product with a heart from the creator. I think he deserved for his work and so I brought one when I out with my sis last month, although I have no idea to place the handicraft at home. It’s a 孫悟空 (the Monkey King, the main character in the classical epic novel <<Journey to the West>>, which originally published anonymously during the Ming Dynasty. [ref: wikipedia]).

Forgot if I learn the title soundbite from elsewhere, I searched from the internet and am surprised that it was from the film《Evan Almighty》港譯: 《黎多件衰鬼上帝》that I watched not long before:
God: How do we change the world?
Evan Baxter: One single act of random kindness at a time.
God: [spoken while writing A-R-K on ground with a stick] One Act, of, Random, Kindness.”

Another quotes from the movie:
God: Let me ask you something. If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other?”

I had once had a dream to study abroad. And I knew my hardest years was an opportunity for me to spread my wings……

。。。Nothing can stop me spread my wings so wide 。。。

Work Mentality

“Success requires work seven days per week. If youre interested in balancing work and pleasure, stop trying to balance them. Instead, make your work more pleasurable.” - How to Balance Work and Pleasure, p. 95
