Happy Lunar New Year!

Today is 年初五 (the fifth day of CNY). It is also my first working day since Chinese New Year. Persistent cold during the festival makes me reluctant to wake up (It’s the fifth coldest day in the HK Observatory record) . There wasn’t a lot of people on the street since students are still enjoying their holiday.

It is probably an awkard situation for those single to greet their colleagues and boss and the action might probably be misinterpreted as a greeting for red pocket. Well… of cos, red pocket is welcomed (:D), and I can imagine how will those singles greet the married with the purpose of red pocket! Yet since I am still new to this company, I feel awaward to greet my colleague as I would not like to give them an impression of … well… greedy? childish? or… try to be friend?  well.. I don’t know. However, what if I get married, guess I would be pleased to give red pocket to friends (of cos!) and colleagues (cos I think it’s needed). It’s just once a year, and I am not a moneygrubber. It’s worthwhile if just 10-20 dollars per person can bring office into harmony. It just like sometimes we will share snack (ya I did.) or buy cakes/ desserts to colleagues. Well anyway….

Its about half two after lunch, well I feel good and the situation is not that bad… Most colleagues took the initiative action to give me red pocket! yo!!! (:D) For me, I just act as usual to say hello/ good morning to colleagues without expressing any CNY greeting to prevent misconnotation. Of cos I did it after I got their red pocket.. haaa  Honestly, I do want to greet everyone, just that I don’t want anybody feel awkward in the other way as well. How considerable am I haaaa…. Turn out my manager, my direct boss, foremen, and frontline staffs gave me red pockets; and I also got 開工利是 (red pocket for work) from power and cheug cheug. :P

Probably I worried too much! I noticed some might not needed to give me red pocket as I seldom work/ talk with them but they just came to my seat and passed it to me :)   They are nice! Not sure how will they feel if they know that I’m planning to leave… sigh… I found it always happened to me that whenever I have the desire to leave, something happened to balance the attribute for me to stay… In November, I successfully got my direct boss’s consent to sign forms for aiesec application. That really, made me feel relieved and plan to stay longer. I also feel lucky to have such good colleagues here.  Thanks god.

Work Mentality

“Success requires work seven days per week. If youre interested in balancing work and pleasure, stop trying to balance them. Instead, make your work more pleasurable.” - How to Balance Work and Pleasure, p. 95
